<font size=+1 color=yellow>I have a VHF CDM1550 on the way and I was wondering what experiences anyone else has had with this radio. So... comments, reviews, horror stories, advantages, disadvantages, etc. are welcome!

I also have a couple general questions... will MDC ID decoding work during scan? Will MDC IDs decode on a personality where receive signaling is set up as QCII (I know that might be a little bit of a long shot). I assume these questions would also be relevant to the HT1250/1550

Receive signalling systems are an either / or proposition. You have to choose either QCII or MDC.

MDC will decode during scan, assuming that the radio is stopped on the channel for the duration of the full MDC data packet.

Thanks, I thought it was probably a pipe dream to have both things work at once.

Just set up two channels of the same frequency- one with MDC, the other with QCII. If this is the priority freq., make one as priority1 and the other as priority2 and it will catch them on scan. Make sure the scan times are set short.
