msf5000 800mhz CLB question

Post by mtxman »

i recently had some 75 watt msf5000 CLB analog repeaters programmed. i put them on the system and i noticed that when they keyed up, i didnt have any trnasmit audio. i can disable the pl switch on the front of the station and the tranmit audio is there when they key up. does this sound like a connect tone problem in the programming prom? i gave the guy who programmed them the correct connect tone, but i guess he could have still typed something in wrong. thanks.

My two bits worth:
Assuming that the correct RX pl is in the CP.
The most likely problem is that when the codeplug was programmed the "Receive qualifier" was not set properly. Should be "S". (For signalling, or "PL")

The default on the programmer should be set this way.

In other words the receiver does not know that it is supposed to un
squelch when PL is present.

Another possibility is that your control board was modified for some sort of external controller, or there is a problem in the PL detect circuits on the control board.

If you have a chip programmer you could send me the .bin file, and I can see if there is an error in the programming.

MSF5000 800MHz Trunked Repeater

Post by DougEaton »

I beg to differ Bernie.

The Audio Squelch qualifiers are:
S=Signal (Carrier Squelch)
C=Coded (PL, DPL, or Connect Tone)
A=Auxilary (Used for Multi-Code and special applications)
Normal for Trunked system is C (Connect Tone only)

My almost two bits worth:
Being dislexic I confused the two.
(Wouldn't it be nice if the RSS was more intuitively clear, such as calling "C" PL?)
Even trying to use "memory hooks" I screwed it up.
And I and have been programming these since day 1.

Still that is where the problem likely is.
By any chance did you get the print out of the code plug.?

thanks for keeping me on my toes!
