Motorola Gang Charger Problems
My friend has several of these and when plugged in they make a whinning sound. I want to buy a few of these but the transformer box says that there are no servicable parts inside. Anybody have experience with these or this problem?

If it's a WHIRRING sound it's the cooling fan, which is supposed to work on a thermostat, but in actuality always seems to come on when you get to putting in the fourth of fifth battery for charging.
Do the chargers give the correct lamp indication? If they do then perhaps the thermostat is stuck in the closed (ON) position.

Motorola Gang Charger Noises/Problems
Troubleshooting a noisy transformer? I have several Gang chargers with many hickups. Once I used a different transformer all of the charging trays worked with no problems. Turns out the tranformers caused all the problems. They work intermittent and make a squealing noise, sometimes they just kick out, sometimes one station will go down but others work. Cleaned this one up and for days it works fine. Sometimes it will start to sqeal and the next day works fine. THERE IS NO COOLING FAN like was suggested (maybe one should be installed). I feel the small transformer is the problem. I have seen many that are not working so there must be a common problem(s)???
Yes, if it doesn't have a cooling fan, you have a very early version of the power supply. They had many problems. The Depot offers a flat-rate repair on the gang chargers, which is a lot cheaper than ordering & replacing the power supply.

Depot / Flat Rate to repair? Whats the Web Address?????

While on this subject would anyone be able to tell me what the voltage on the Blue wire comming out of the power supply should be.
I have one of the Older NTN1177A Series Gang Chargers, but has the PS with the fan. As far as i can tell; Black = Ground, Red = 12.5v but im only seeing about .036v on the Blue
Any help would be appreciated

The blue wire is a shutdown wire to turn off the power supply in a disaster.
