MSF parts request

i need the 26 conductor ribbon cable that goes from the interconnect board to the station control board on a CXB digital shelf.

all the ones that i have ever seen are "rainbow" (multi-colored) and consist of an IDE-like two row 13 conductors per row header on each end.

i can't find the part number of this cable in the big fat service manual either.

HELP!

i also need a UHF 450Mhz IPA if anyone has one handy.

The wire color (rainbow vs all gray) shouldn't matter. The IDE-like connectors at the end are fairly standard. I have some 50-conductor wire at home and can easily make the cable you need, as long as the connectors are available somewhere like Mouser or Jameco. I also have an MSF5000 and don't recall seeing a lot of interconnection details in the manuals either, but I do have three different manuals at home and will check them out tonight.

If you can deal with an after-market (aka home-made) cable, I think we can do business ! PM me if you want me to go this route.

There's nothing wrong with making your own cable, but if you want to get one from Motorola, this should be what you are looking for:

3084213N02, Cable FLT w/conn, DNUP 37.90

I searched three big Motorola manuals and could find references only on the block / interconnection diagram pages, and then the cable was listed as being Part Of something else.

You wouldn't happen to know how long that cable is? I can make one for less than $5 and am assuming it's less than 2 feet long. My station is not easily available for inspection, otherwise I'd know. I will go check it on Friday but was hoping to order the parts Thursday.

My two bits worth:
I had a station with one of these cables damaged:
I just took the old cable to the I.C. Supply, the premier parts supplier in Hawaii, and they made an identical cable for a few dollars.
No reason to use a factory cable, which is likely not available.

No argument that you can make a completely satisfactory replacement for a few bucks.

However, as posted above, Motorola online shows the factory part is available for $37.90 DNUP [NSO is less]

In a commercial application, your time spent driving to the local parts store is worth more than the thirty dollar price delta when you can get it from Motorola in seconds with a mouse click.

True, but I don't think this is a commercial application, otherwise the original poster would have just called Motorola or would have known how to go about obtaining the individual parts directly. Fortunately the cable is not in a critical application and can easily and inexpensively be duplicated. For all the effort it takes to order the parts, maybe I should get enough for two cables - since the wire comes in 10ft increments I'll have plenty left over.
