is ANYBODY knowledgeble with Desktrac?
Moderator: Queue Moderator
I tried here several times, but nobody answered. I'll try again!!!
I have a lowband Desktrac and need to do several things.
1. Add external speaker (which plug?)
2. Add an external relay to be triggered upon tone activation (aka external alarm)
3. I need information on the telephone interface board that mounts under the radio.
It has an RJ-45 8-pin output to the wall jack. Only 2 of the 8 are used. Which 2 of the RJ45 go to the phone service line?
4. There is a rotary switch on the front panel (thru the hole) What does each position do and where should it be set during normal operation.
5. There are 2 DB25 connectors on the rear. What are they for? The lower has a ribbon cable running to the tone (phone) board.
This unit is being installed at my FD as a remote receiver link via phone line and I'm having some trouble getting the link established. I've alway been a "mobile" type guy with the business and do not get much experience with this type of installation. I can't even find a local shop with e service manual.
If anyone can email me direct, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks

Re: is ANYBODY knowledgeble with Desktrac?
Looking for the same info for a UHF Desktrac - trying to see if I can interface an CWID thru the DB25. Looking at the list posted by Gary (some years ago now!) and comparing it to what I have, it doesn't seem to match. I found 13.8V on a different pin, PL Channel mon on another, all by experimenting. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Re: is ANYBODY knowledgeble with Desktrac?
I tried looking on motorola's website, no luck. I tried calling the number given, and after spending about 5-6 min trying to navigate the menus (which had zero options that sound right), i got disconnected! Searching online I found a dealer who has one - for $130!?! Is it that hard just to get a pinout?
Thanks!

Re: is ANYBODY knowledgeble with Desktrac?
Yep, the desktrac manual is pretty steep
Just checked on MOL with an account,
Oh well,
CoM

If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.
Re: is ANYBODY knowledgeble with Desktrac?
We have a DeskTrac manual here. It is a large manual. I may be able to help when I get a few min's.

The previously posted pinout is correct. You are having issues, hence the recommendation to get a manual.
You said you checked Motorola's "website"
motorola.com is not MOL. If you don't have an account on MOL, the 800 number should work.
BTW, the MOL price is not outrageous:
1. Item Number. 6802993G65
SERVICE MAN, Unit of Measure: 1 EA
Lead time (days) 2, Available Y, Your price 65.45
It looks like your local dealer figures on 100% markup.
