You don't need another code plug. Read the notes on the modifications to the Spectra in the model information. Change the MLM hex value from the value for an A5 head to the value for an A7. If you're a purist, then change the model numbers in the MLM and Command Board memory. Then read the radio, and write back to it. Things should then be different. Thats all there is to it.

Jaymz, I did a little experiment with the Lab RSS. I have a spectra plus that was not supported by my version of lab so what I did was fool the Lab and hooked up a VHF spectra that was supported, I selected the bit banger and with the VHF radio the screen came up. I then attached the unsupported radio and started going to the various hex locations and it worked fine! I was able to change the bandsplit with know problems. I just thought I'd pass this info on to anyone who wants to bit bang a newer radio that the software says it can't support.
