systems saber III price?

Post by JOHN 1807 »

Ok, a poll here for you saber guys...

I went to a local hamfest today and among the total garbage I found a NEW in the box, systems saber III with encryption module (unknown type) installed -- vhf band

The guy wanted 1200.00 explaining to me that it was a 3000.00 radio (thanks)

I realize thats more the price of what a used ASTRO saber goes for but I was wondering what you guys thought: New in box (no warranty I'm sure) systems saber III vhf with (unknown type) encryption installed, Keyword for radio perfectionists here is New..........

What do you think?

im thinking ...... 500.00 to 800.00

and you can get them off ebay for 300.00 that are in excelent shape .

the module is only worth 80.00 if its des-xl , 40.00 if its anything else.

I paid $350 for mine from a local dealer and it had the DES-XL module. It wasn't NIB, but it was almost mint. Now I just need a UHF Sys Saber.

i used to get $850 for them in the mid 90's.

i would compare this to the brand new in the box MICOR that went for about $200 (?) or so on freakbay not too long ago.

$1200 is waaaay outta line tho - i would go $450ish on it ... no more.

bottom line - unless i was going to put it on display or something (NOT!) no way i would spend $450 for a wideband only analog portable.

Yep,

Thats kinda what I figured the answers would be, Not having dealt with systems sabers and knowing that they still seem to be an in-demand radio I just wasn't sure if this guy was off his rocker or not.

And yes 10-95, I beleive it went back home with the seller. oh well.

Thanks guys.
