MT1000 error message

When trying to program my MT1000, model #H43GCU7100CN - VHF, with an MDC ID, I get the message

'Warning - this front end cover does not support digital messaging'.

Shouldn't most MT1000's support MDC? It programs fine otherwise, it just won't accept MDC signalling...

Does it have the MDC front cover with emergency button? If it does, then something is wrong. If you have the normal front cover then the radio is not capable of MDC-1200.
