I am choosing N connectors for several 60ft runs of 1/2 inch hardline, and wondering if the soldered center conductor type is superior to the friction fit kind? Has anyone had problems with the friction-fit? The center conductor is copper plated aluminum whereas the pin is silver or gold.
Thanks

How come Maxwell never gets any credit?
I love the friction fit, just for ease of installation. We haven't had any failures with them, but have only been using them the last 6 months or so. A local tower company has used them for several years, they love 'em as well.

You can't truly appreciate the captivated center pin type of connectors until you've soldered some center pins on in high winds on tops of buildings. The solder type are just fine if you make all your connections in an enclosed space with a 200W iron or a mini torch. I'll take the captivated style over the solder style any day. Let me know if you need any of either type.
