P110 GP300 TX RX Audio Garble

Post by Daniel Watson »

I acquired a P110 VHF and a GP300 UHF and they both came with the same problem. TX and Rx they sound like chineese or garble. The start up beep is fine and they are on frequency they just sound off freq but my freq counter show them right on.

What radios do you own?: APX7000, APX7500, GP280

Perhaps the radios have an aftermarket voice inversion scrambler installed in them. That would explain the "garble" that you are hearing. It would be even more likely if you acquired the radios from the same source as a pair. Sometimes on those models one of the side switches is set for "scramble on / off". Many times the boards are installed inside the radios and connected directly into the audio feeds, etc.

Just my 2 cents.

Garbled Voice

Justin, Indeed you were correct. Both units had Voice Inversion kits installed. I just opened the radio and unplugged them. Thank you
