system saber 3 programming problem

Post by Kdogg »

I just recently got a system saber 3 uhf secure model and the appropriate RSS version that the radio was last programmed with. When I try to read the radio I get a serial bus error that says "Bus collision on transmit turn radio off then on, to try again". When I turn it off and back on and try to read it I get the same error again. The thing about this that confuses me is that when I go into the pc configuration of the rss and do the com test it tells me its successful and that the radio version is CON 7, so I know its communicating with the radio somewhat, its just not reading it. Anyone have this problem and knows how it can be resolved?

I'm using a ibm 486 laptop and running the RSS through the dos prompt and I have used this same laptop to program a regular saber 1 and other motorola radios with no problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks

The systems sabers are VERY picky. Try a 386 or even a 286. I'm not joking.

Yes, indeed they are fussy.

I recall I kept a 286 around just to program my system saber with the System Saber RSS.

The System Saber RSS won't run on any of today's fast computers.
Yummy.... bacon and eggs.
