XTS 2500, 3000 and 5000 POrtables

Post by vmehta1725 »

I was wondering if anyone knows if XTS 2500, 3000 and 5000 are FM approved Intrinsically safe radios or not. Any input about this would be great. I read the spec sheets online but did not find this info for xts 2500 and xts 3000 on the webpage.
Thanks,
Mr. Mehta

I think it becomes approved when you use an approved battery. I've seen no mention of the radio itself being IS, but you can by FM approved batteries, such as the NTN8299.

The radios have to be ordered as FM Intrinsically Safe, as well as be used only with FM I.S. approved batteries. The radios will have a label indicating the I.S. class(es) they are approved for, as well as having green dots on the bottom of the front housing. I know the 5000 & 3000 are available I.S. approved...I'm not sure on the 2500 but I believe they are as well.
