Does anyone know who uses the HRR setup? I believe Orange County CA has some of these.
Anyone tried the hooking up two radios and to get the 2nd one to transmit? I am thinking of being a $175 giuea pig and to try it, but it would be nice to know if anyone else has seen/done it.
I know that in the factory setup, the second radio is just a receiver (no PA), but I am unsure if the RSS or something else blocks PTT access to the 2nd radio.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

Update:
I programmed up one of my astros as a secondary radio. On powerup it gives the error code for not finding the other radio, but the radio does xmit/rx just the same. So now, we can rule out RSS/CPS preventing the PTT.
Looking at the cable schemetic for the dual radio cable, the mid hi / low lines and the PTT are not bought out to the 2nd radio. I do not know if they are needed or not. It may work x9000 style. I dunno. I suck at these things.
If you have decent MOL access, the manual is under the Astro Spectra section and its 94D09-O_AT_IM_HRR Suppl

PJ,
Since you have a diagram of the cable, if you have time, get a few DB25 connectors and make up a short jumper from a standard Astro Spectra cable (if the straight through part is the same...I would check it aganist a standard cable wiring diagram) and see if it work rather than spending money on a cable you might not be able to use. All you need are three DB25 connector and some wire for a quick experimental test.
