XTS 3k R housing Kits

Post by IA »

Do XTS 3k R housing kits come with the speaker, knobs and flexs pre-installed? What about the decals (Moto, and Astro)?

I am trying to order one through my MOL account and it seems like all of the R type housing are unavailable. This includes the yellow color ones also. Are the Ruggedized housing sales restricted or are they just out of stock?

I think I'll have to call M on monday.

I think you will have to do exactly that. As noted in the ebay thread:

http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=37849

Motorola is coming down hard on re-imported and parts built radios. As a result, they have removed many parts - especially labels, housings & such - from general availability.

You can get permission to purchase them and then they will show up on your MOL account - BUT - you WILL have to play 20 questions with some security type person before that happens.

Your best shot is if you are a major account - utility, government agency or MSS - especially if you have a direct salesperson to go to bat for you.

Individual account? My guess is you'll be wasting your time calling - but what the heck - it's a toll free number.

maybee its me but i vaguely rember the "R" type housing kits being hard to get because in order to be rugedizided there has to be some sort of device attached at assembly to presurize the case to make it water resistant? I don't Mot restricts the normal case kits as we hav never had a problem getting them, the rediculous prices are another thing, but i think in this case Mot is trying to keep people building or re-building "r" versions of radio's without the proper equipment to re-assemble them. I think they treat getting some "fm/is" parts the same way.

They did the same thing with Saber "R" housings, you could buy one at an over inflated, insane price of $3500.00 Now oddley enough, I don't recall the ASTRO Saber "R" housings costing that much which is inconsistant with M pricing.

So I wouldn't be shocked if it were WAY overpriced if available at all.

The R housing are the only parts that are unavailable. Regular housings are available. The housing prices aren't that inflated. Will M let you order them is the question. Do they come with the knobs and flexes installed?

As far as I know you can order the housings no problem - give me some part numbers and I'll see if they are avalible....

You can buy the plastic housing without electronics - or with.

Housing Part #'s

Post by mtr12222 »

NTN8650 Model 1 Black R
NTN8651 Model II Black R
NTN8652 III Black R

NTN8669 Model I Yellow R
NTN8670 II Yellow R
NTN8671 III Yellow R

These are the Kit part numbers that include speaker, switches and flex.

Try this # as a housing only for a IIIR Black 1585507D06
and this for a IIR yellow 1585507D09

All of those housings p/n's don't come back on my account as being unorderable, but just not avalible.

If someone wants to fund me trying to order one, I'll try.

Might be on backorder.
