Can a dual head W7 astro spectra radio use a W5 rear control head?I'm only interested in the basic functions at the rear head mode, vol .

I would venture to say -- sure - why not.
The W5/W7 from what I understand (much like that a7/a5) have pretty much the same boards for their respective series. Keep in mind that the three buttons on the W5 head will probably have the same functionality as the middle row of buttons on the W7.
I would say try it, see what happens. I don't think the head communicates much back to the radio besides button pushes.
