XTS3500r Case For An XTS3000

Post by mikegilbert »

Hi All.
I recently picked up a Yellow XTS3500r-III case for my XTS3000-I for my I-to-III conversion. I was told by the seller it was compatible with the XTS3000. Is this in fact true that the XTS3000 and XTS3500 use the same case with different labels? Otherwise I'm gonna have to find one again.

Thanks in advance.

Nice! Thank god for that. It took long enough to find a new model 3 housing. Thanks for the reply....I too am waiting for the display and keypad.

FYI: Even though the ruggedized case fits you can not make your radio waterproof with the case alone.

The keypads, chasis, gaskets, and battery contacts are all different.

Oh I wish it was as easy as a case swap. Don't the 'R' models have a small vent or hole in the back of the case?

the r versions have vent holes on the back. they also have the hole that you use to pressurize the case. i dont have my detailed service manual with me right now, but you can purchase the equipment to make your "R" version waterproof again.

Sorry to stir up a dead horse but mentioned here... does anyone have the part number for the detailed service manual so I can order it and figure out what I need to make this badboy "R" again. Currently it's a non "R" hiding in an "R" case.

also, in addition to the battery contacts, is there a special "R" battery I need as well?

Thanks, Scott.
