Doug Hall RV2 and Maxtracs

Post by FMROB »

Hello all,
I am posting this in hope to get some helpful advice before I venture in doing this. I have an msf5000 and a cat controller.

I am going to work on doing a voting system involving the MSF5000, Cat300dx, Doug Hall Rv2, and maxtracs.
All of the links will be through RF. At the remote site will be a RX maxtrac to a rick with a TX maxtrac that will shoot back to the repeater site, where it will be rx'd by another maxtrac then sent to the voter than controller.

My questions before starting this.
1) How does the COR/S voltages work from the maxtracs into the doug hall units? Out of my MSF I have RDstat whicj gives my a +5vdc then drops to zero. What about the maxtracs??
2) Any advice on the settings of the doug hall in respects to audio
3) Any advice on the settings of the remote radios.

Any other advice would be helpful.. Happy Holidays. Rob

What radios do you own?: Too many

I can't be of any help yet.
But I am going to use a similar set up on a repeater system starting next spring.
Using the DHE, and 900 mhz Maxtracs as my remote signal transport back to the main site.
Perhaps we can "conspire" to figure out how to do this.
The good news is lots of people have done it.
Now we just need to get them to talk.

This is the only one I can help you with, as I haven't worked with the Doug Hall units. The 16-pin Maxtracs have multiple pins which can be RSS programmed to be used as COR. Pins 6, 8, 10 & 12 at least. You can set them for Carrier only, or Carrier + PL/DPL. You can set them for active high or active low. Setting them for active low will make them act the same as your MSF RDstat.
