Post by William Brett »

Also how can I make my GP300 scan it's 8 channels ?

Programmable side button functions include "monitor" (PL/DPL off), "volume set" (open squelch), and "nuisance channel delete" (for scan), if I recall correctly. I typically set my top button for "monitor", and the bottom one for "volume set", since I don't have scan programmed.

To scan, you'll have to give up one of your channels (modes) and define it as a scan list in the RSS. Then when you put the channel selector on that channel, it will scan the channels in the list.

I've got mine set up as - top button - scan nuisance delete (to temporarily delete unwanted channels from the scan list), and bottom button - permanent monitor ( to disable receive pl)

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

The GP300's side buttons can be programmed any way you want. Motorola presets the radios as top button Volume set, bottom button for Monitor.

Scan, and programming of scan lists and buttons are all programmed in the RSS.

I have a GP300 with a DTMF pad. with it, I get 2 more programmable buttons to mess with (4 total!).

I've also discovered that if the radio is equipped with a GP350 codeplug and a GP350 DTMF pad, then the P2 button configured for 'exit phone' on the GP350 (a feature not avalable on the GP300), By pressing the P2 button, you get scan on/off!!
I would have to do more tinkering to figure out if the radio would still need a scan channel and scan list, or if it will scann all of the channels in the radio.
