Astro Spectra consolette question

Post by Chrisjz »

I have a customer that has an Astro Spectra consolette with TRC board installed. What they want to do is add a second remote head and also retain the function of the TRC board. My question is, is it possible to add a second control head to an Astro Spectra in a consolette configuration? Has anyone done this before?

The only Astro Spectra Consolettes I've seen are the type with no control heads at all, which interface to either DGT9000, RCH3000, or MC3000 digital remotes.

The consollettes are equipped with either a tone remote interface board or a local audio interface board [that supports the DGT / RCH sort of desksets].

Either interface has a 34 pin connector [J2] that connects to a control head interface board that in turn connects to a W7 head in the front of the station.

There is nothing to suggest that Motorola ever intended you to be able to have a second W7 head, so you are probably on your own. Just get all the right manuals and see if you can duplicate the way a mobile supports two heads.
