Hi, Enabled password required for the first time the other day, had a few communication with radio failed errors pop up but after plugging in the rib box, it took fine.
Tried to read the radio this afternoon and after I hit read device, display shows 1 csq, after a few seconds (when the radio normally resets), the radio emits the normal reset "beep" and then I get the popup, "Communication with Radio Failed".
I've tried reading with the password already entered, then tried with just turning the radio on, without entering the p/w, niether way makes a difference.
Battery on radio is freshly charged, rib has new battery, laptop has nothing done to it recently that might affect port operation.
It seems that the radio IS successfully communicating with the radio since it IS going into 1 CSQ, I'm thinking that it might be a secure module issue? Anyone think so also? I've gotten an occasional fail 09/10 but goes away when I power the radio down and back up again.
I even tried the all astericks thing to erase the "keys" and defaulted my p/w back to 01234567.
Now since the keys are erased, (not sure if the following is normal or not), but anyway, now that it's been cleared, I cannot use the KEY or PSWD buttons, they "boop" but don't cause an action. I think I am going to try and remove the module and see if it works without it installed.
Should I try re-installing the CPS? I thought about it, but like i said above, radio IS going into 1 CSQ.
Anyone have ANY ideas on where to start with this one?
Thanks!

Have you tried reading another radio to confirm the programming set-up is ok? We can start by isolating the problem to programming set-up vs. radio. From what you described, it sounds like a set-up problem.. not a radio issue. Even with a defective secure module, the radio should read and write just fine.

GONNA Love this
I checked out the equipment on another radio, WORKED FINE, checked my radio, When I pulled the housing off of the radio the otehr day to blow out the backside of the display guard screen with compressed can air, I somehow left the bottom screws loose and although I did test the radio for power up after cleaning the screen, i did not transmit or anything to further test it.
I noticed this by attempting to attach the speaker mic today for a job and when i connected it, it would not tx, radio would tx from radio's ptt,, but speaker mic ptt was not functional.
Once I saw that, I knew it was either a flex or a connection issue.
Wheew......... Thought it was off to Plantation
