Desktrac programming

Is that true that we need exclusivly a "cpu 286 pc" to program this type of repeater?

Heck no. It would work fine enough, but if you use the latest RSS version available, it should run on much faster machines according to the 486/Pentium Compatibility Matrix documented by Motorola. Here's some info on the latest RSS:

Just remember, always use a real DOS mode, not a DOS Window.

You can also use the Maxtrac RSS, setting the selector switch in the Desktrac for the correct radio chassis.
