Programming Digital ID reverse alias names

Post by MattSR »

Hi Guys,

My radio is flashed for H14/G114 Digital ID Display. When I receive an ASTRO transmission the digital ID shows up on the display, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to get alias names to work. In CPS I have put the ID's and the alias names in the ASTRO System Call List, but the alias names still dont show up!

Can someone please help?

I know it can be done - there is the option in CPS to do it, and ive seen it work on both ASTRO Sabers and XTS3k's.

Im just not setting it up correctly thats all.

What radios do you own?: Radar Range

In ASTRO mode you need Soft ID enabled/flashed in your radio for Aliases to work. But both your radio and the transmitting radio need to have those options in order for it to work.

JAYMZ - if you can really make 'soft ID' do ID aliasing on an XTS3000 or Astro Saber you're a better man than I.

Friends of mine have tried this with multiple radios, with the correct flash, and with several firmware versions.

To the best of my knowledge, Astro Saber and XTS3000 simply do not display alias either MDC or Astro

XTS5000 - now that is a different matter - they will do it but it requires the 'enhanced' digital ID flash and new enough firmware, somewhere around version 4. or better. I have seen 4.50 do it for sure.

Ill see if I can get some more info on this...

Not that I speak for Jaymz,

What I think he means that if both radios have the SOFT ID feature, the radio will display the name that it gets in the datastream that is sent along with the voice, and display that on the screen.

That is not translating alias's like the CDM/MCS's will do (though the CDM has a MUCH larger phonbook thankfully).

So, if you have H114 Display ID (I think that's the right H number) you will see the MDC ID's/ID's sent with digital voice, but will not get a phonebook translation out of them.

Then there is the infamous "ASSMAN" ID that kept being displayed at Dayton last year....
