AS3 programming woes... "Protocol Entry Error"

Post by 007 »

Gang-

I searched out the other PEE related threads, but this one is stumping me.

I have a real /\/\ RIB from Monty, and I made my own AS cable from a speaker mic. It's worked great for almost 2 years. I was gone for over a month, and when I got the stuff out to program today, I'm getting the big middle finger with...

>PROTOCOL ENTRY ERROR<

I thought maybe it was a bad AS RIB to radio cable, so I tried the factory /\/\ Jedi cable and my MTX8000...same damn thing.

2 radios, same error. I tried all 4 com ports, same error. Both radios operate 100%, no fails or errors.

I tried the service menu and got...

>CANNOT AQUIRE BUSY LINE ERROR<

I tried both my programming laptops, in DOS, that have always worked in the past, same errors. I checked the RIB wallwort and 9V battery...both over 9V (9.9 and9.4 respectively)

The stuff didn't move while I was gone...

HELP!

do you have any software on the machine that was installed recently, I had a problem a while back where some software for my old PDA took over some things for the com port(s) and messed with the machine.>>> just a thought

I guess;
You are Using wrong RSS. RTK-4203 is for Standard Saber

You have to Use Astro RSS RKN-4046

If you're using correct RSS you may try "M" SRN1201A
If you don't or can't find this SRN just shout and I will send to you.

Sounds like either a bad RIB, or bad RIB-to-computer cable.

The AS battery is fine and the RIB battery is new, and it is always plugged in anyway.

I checked out the RIB to PC cable with my VOM, and it checks out 100% due to the excellent construction by Monty.

Guess I'll try another RIB and see what happens...
