Will an astro saber handle aes encryption ?

Post by carbineone »

I was just curious if an astro saber will handle AES encryption.
I'm sure it would be have to be a 1 meg radio.
Thanks in advance

to my knowledge, AES was not offered for the astro saber. this is a host/dsp issue more than a hardware issue.

i believe the requirements for an astro spectra (same module type) to faciliate AES was to order and install the conversion kit to take the radio to "astro spectra PLUS"....

i'll check tho - good question.

The ASTRO Saber does NOT support AES. You'll need either the old XTS 3000, or the current XTS-5000.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I want to say that our sales guy stated you could get AES for the Astro Spectra, but since we weren't going to change from DVP-XL (and going to the XTL's anyways) I never bothered to pursue it. This was about this time last year when they were really pushing encryption with the PD's and IMBE upgrades.
