AS3 Enabling Direct Entry of memory Channel

Post by NEWS435 »

I just got done programing my AS3 using the original RSS program. I cannot figure out however how to enable the direct channel entry option. For example, if I am in Zone 1, Channel 1 on channel 1, and want to go to channel 177 by typing on the dtmf pad.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you can only do this with zones not an individual channel. For instance you can jump to zone 5 by hitting zone then 5 on the keypad. You also have the option of programming a zone/channel to be associated with the Home key.

Can you press CHAN (assuming it's programmed to appear at the bottom of the screen), enter the mode number you want in the current zone and press Home?

This works on the XTS3000, but I've never used an ASTRO Saber so I'm not 100% on this.

Yes, it will work on the AS3. Mine is set up LAPD-style, with the first 16 channels accessible through the knob and everything else accessible only through the keypad. It's old, though.. HOST R03.00.00, so it may not work on the newer stuff.

Thanks for the information. I followed those steps and am now able to directly enter the channels in that zone. However, I would like to be able to pull up any of the 255 channels that are not associated in that zone.

I have 13 zones and 13 scan lists set up. I have about 200 channels programmed in the personality.

Zone 1 is set up for personalities 1-16
Zone 2 is set up for personalities 17-32

When in zone 1, I would like to have the ability of changing to channel 22 with the keypad.

Thanks for your patience with me, I'm still learning this.

you cant do it, you have to go to each zone to get to that certain channel you want, if you want to just directly go to a channel like that, then you have to program everything under 1 zone... other then that, u have to manually go to each zone and then to the channel. No way around it

Yeah, I forgot to mention that mine was programmed with everything in one zone. Truthfully, I'd never tried it with multiple zones.. that's good to know.

THere are disadvantage to going with everything on 1 zone sometimes.... for example, cant do field scan list no more, which is not a big prob, but its always the little things lol. Other then that, dont see any other.... maybe umm, keeping 1 zone off trunking out of conventionals....
