Good day all!
I have a VHF MSF that I would like to put an old analog (CLB) control tray on. I went to my local MSS to try and blast an EPROM for the shelf and to my surprise his R1800 didn't support VHF models. It also didn't support 900 MHz models either, just UHF and 800. I believe the R1800 reported the programming firmware as Rev 05. Did the R1800's ever support VHF analog MSF's? When did the analog 900 MHz stations come into being?
I'm scratching my head big time..

Revision 6 of the MSF R1800 program began to offer support for 896 and PURC5000 models.
Version 8 is probably the latest available version of the program. It came with a manual revision, SMR-5696, 09-11-89, that lists all the models supported which include UHF, 800 and 900 conventional base and repeater models, 800 and 900 trunked repeaters and UHF, 800 and 900 PURC5000 stations.

There is a back door to the R-1801 MSF program to get to the VHF stuff.
I can do the PURC VHF but for the repeater station you might want to contact Doug Eaton.

Thank you all for replying and I apologize for the delay, I was called out of town unexpectedly.
The unit I wish to put the CLB shelf on does have a CXB shelf on it now. I am donating this MSF to hams who already have 2 UHF CLB's at the site. I was hoping that I could give them this VHF station with a CLB shelf to make things easy.
I assumed that at some point Motorola had made a VHF station with the analog shelf because of consumer demand, but perhaps they were so happy selling UHF stations they didn't need any more money!

The VHF MSF was the last model.
The Secure MICOR was in production for many years after the MSF, and MSR ststions were introduced.
The VHF station was introduced long after the CXB models were introduced in other bands.
The MSF V8 firmware for the 1800 came out shortly after the 800 CXB, was necessary to program the "B" version station.
Because of a fatal flaw, all A version stations had to have the UNI board replaced, and programmed a B version.
There is one known bug in the V8, it will not print the MCS tables.
This was many years before the VHF version was introduced. I understand that the original MSF engineering group was let go, so another crew designed the VHF unit.
I have a prototype program that has no frequency limits, but wether it would work in a station is another matter.
My best advice is to leave the station "Stock".

There a few issues putting an UHF Analog MSF Station Control on a VHF Digital Station RF Tray. But it is doable. The codeplug would have to be set up on VHF Freqs using back door programming. I have licence to the source code for MSF so I am able to do this "Legally".
