XTS5000 and non-standard PL's

Post by n9upc »

Due to interference and other reasons we have put a non-standard PL for an input on our repeater.

With all of our other /\/\ radios (Visars, HT1K's, MT1K's, HT1250's, etc..) will take 93.2 Hz but the XTS does not seem to want to do this.

Is there a trick or does anyone know how to do this? If I can not enter a non-standard PL looks like I am going to have to say bye bye to my XTS, sell it, and go buy my Kenwood digital.

What radios do you own?: Radar Range

Not to be a jerk or anything... but why not chose a standard PL that works with all the radios?

I'll have to find the thread, but this was discussed at length about 2 or 3 years ago. The joke saying of "My PL is 60 Hz!!" came out of it, but it covered a lot of good technical info that is good to know when picking a PL.

Well the XTS5000 is the only one being a pain in the a$$.

All of our Kenwoods, and other /\/\ radios are taking the PL without problems but the XTS does not seem to be able to do this. All you can do is select the PL from a list.

We had to move to a non-standard PL for numerious reasons. Well why not go with DPL??? Well the GE Master III we are using has about a 2 second lag time when using DPL for encode and decode. Only a 1 second delay for decode. So we did not need a lag and had to solve some other issues so a non-standard PL was used and worked in everyhting except this XTS5000 which is the only one on the fleet.

150 Hz.

Post by Cowthief »

Hello.

The government model of the XTS series has the standard list, but there is a patch for the RSS to do 150 Hz.
The patch will let you type in whatever PL tone you want.
You can then select any of the 30+ standard tones plus one non-standard tone in RSS.
This patch works for the entire XTS series of govenment radios, so it there is a good chance it will work for any XTS.

I know this is likely just the normal CT BS but on the other hand I do remember something about this. If I remember right the Mil does use 150hz as well as few other odd ones and they would order their newer radios in such away that hey would be able to use those tones.

I have about 10 FPP/Govt. versions in VHF, and both UHF ranges of the XTS5000 model 3, these are slated to go to FBI and other agencies in a few months as a repackaged Avionics setup and they are all fresh off of motos Assy line and none will do 93 hz or 150 Hz only the standard PL's. They all have the Most recent flash for instance the UHF range2 are Host R04.51.00, DSP R04.50.00, secure R05.04.01, flashcode 1A00010001023, and as I said Slated for govt. users and Moto has never said anything about a spatch to do any of the oddball PL tones.

no 5.0.0 yet and these are pretty new as I said they came in within the last month or so. I have another box of VHF and UHF FPP versions that I need to open and see what the host and dsp are they could be 5.0.0.
