Maratrac Hang-up box

Post by n9ysu »

I have a Maratrac w/ A7 head...I have the hang-up box for it, but I need to know where to connect the two wires to.. I'd like the radio to stop scanning when I take the mic off hook...

Maratracs do not use a Hang-up Box.

The hang-up is the metal "stud" on the mic, all you need is a grounded clip. Same as a spectra.

You also need to set that option in the RSS. I don't remember where you enable it, though.

Or the mic has a pushbutton plunger on the hangup button.
And they behave differently depending on what ver eprom firmware and RSS you have (re scantalkback).

Ok.. that's where I'm getting confused... in the rss, there's an option for 'hang-up box' behavior.. either csq scan, or scan stop. right now, it's set to scan stop, however, with the mic off hook , it doesn't stop scanning...

In that case, I would suspect that someone has jumpered the HUB line inside the control head, or inside the mic.

The RSS allows you to choose what the radio does when in either of the on-hook/off-hook HUB toggle conditions. The button on the back of the mic is "on-hook" when grounded, and "off-hook" when not. Check inside the mic to see if the black wire and the blue wire or their connectors have been jumpered together, and look inside the control head for a jumper that's been changed/added. If either is so, the radio won't "see" any kind of external mic hang-up device and won't respond to a change in being on-hook or off-hook.
curmudgeon.....and I like it.
