Astro Tac receiver SIM card incompatibility

Post by BigEE »

We had three new Astro Tac receivers that showed a blinking fail condition. After talking to Motorola they determined it was the SIM module and we would need three new ones. We verified by puting known good modules in the units and were happy to see it worked.

The old modules were stamped with version 020.10.012. The new ones are stamped with version 020.13.017. The new ones stop the blinking but will not take a code plug. The radio program version R12.03.00 shows that a code plug is written to the device but immediately attempting to read it back, with or without a reset, shows an error claiming there is no valid code plug loaded.

I wonder if this is simply a firmware/software incompatibility. Anyone out there know more about this? Could you shed some light on this in any way?

Thank you,

Eric

You are going from a version 10 codeplug to a version 13 codeplug.
I think that you need to do a codeplug update. Can't remember off the top of my head, but it is a menu function in the RSS.

before you load the codeplug you need to go into service. Go to F8 upgrade codeplug, then try again. Remember to save it in between.
