Why can't I disable MODAT???

Why can't I disable MODAT???

Post by RESCUE161 »

I have tried and tried until I'm blue in the face to disable MODAT on an Astro Saber. I'm using the latest CPS and under the Conventional Personality I click the signalling screen and select "None". When I exit, I get the error tones and it points me to the MODAT screen???

Why can't I just disable it?

When I select "None" on the signalling, I also get pointed to the Secure screen???

If memory serves, you need to check the emergency revert screen and make sure its pointed to the correct channel.

If I also recall, you can't completely disable the option and you need to have at least one channel with modat as the signalling (not don't have to have the PTT ID enabled) with modat, and change the emergency revert to that one channel. That usually does it.

From what I recall, this is a problem with the "Nick" radios. You need to select a channel as having MODAT Emergency Revert. What I've seen work is just to select Zone 1 Channel 1 (assuming it's a channel that allows TX, and is conventional - if not, just pick any conventional channel). Then, in that particular conventional personality, just make sure signalling is set to none.

This makes the MODAT screen happy as it has an emergency revert channel. Just don't have any signalling enabled on that conventional personality and you won't be transmitting MODAT.

Yeah, it actually effects any radio with modat, just not the nick radio's.

Even the old LAPD flashcode had the same issue..but then again, for them it wasn't an issue :)

I've done exactly that and it does not make the MODAT screen happy. When I used to program it with DOS RSS I had no problems as I could do as you said and all was fine, but CPS is a different story. It's forcing me to select MODAT??? I hate that...

Any radios that do it as a standard feature? Like mdc or quickcall is standard to some radios, I was just curious if any were standard.

ahhh the miracles of whored out flashcodes...

here is what i do:
make a channel with modat, put it in a zone as ch17, that way you dont even access it with the rotary (unless chan menu is enabled). then in the modat emergency screen, point all 3 to that zone/mode.

should make it happy

That's exactly what I did. I can disable MODAT when in DOS RSS, but CPS will not let me. Finally got the damn thing reprogrammed...
