MSR 2000 DPL to PL conversion issues... Woe is me.

Post by d119 »

Hi Group,
I have a UHF 110W MSR 2000 station here in the 460MHz range. It's currently equipped for DPL, and working properly. However, I need to convert this station to PL.

I have obtained a PL card, and installed vibrasenders in the PL card. When I remove the DPL card and insert the PL card, and key up my properly programmed radio, the station will key up, pass NO audio, and unkey after the hang time.

If I stay keyed down, it just repeats this cycle over and over - Key up, no audio, wait for hangtime, unkey... (this cycle repeats over and over and over as long as I am keyed down on my portable).

What gives? Are there jumpers that need to be changed when you go from DPL to PL? If so, what are they? Not having a manual for this station makes things considerably difficult for me... I'm trying to locate one.

Anyone that can help me get this PL thing working, PLEASE HELP! I've verified that both jumpers on the Squelch Gate module are set to "PL" and the hang timer is set to "2".

TIA for any help.

Manual

Oh Yeah. You do really need the manual don't forget that it is a two book set; the UHF station and the "Control and Applications" books.

MSR DPL to PL conversion

So it's not as simple as removing one card and inserting the other...

There are a couple of jumpers on the DPL card that must be changed for repeater use.

JU 3 and 4 OUT
JU101 and 102 IN

Will, he pulled out the DPL card and is now trying to get the station to work with a PL card, so he'd need jumper settings for the PL card, and possibly elsewhere in the station when making that kind of change.

I screwed up, got my DPL and Pl messed up.

There are a few mods on the PL card and it needs TWO reeds.

here goes..

JU 1 OUT
JU 2 OUT
JU 3 OUT
JU 4 IN
JU 5 IN
JU 6 OUT
JU 7 OUT
JU 8 IN

Add a 4.7 k resistor from PIN 21 in series with the 10 uF cap-.

So this will fix the keying and unkeying described in my original post?
