Retailer in the US to purchase a new XTS portable.

Post by aays888 »

Hi group,
can someone give me the name to a retailer in the US who sells Motorola radios, preferably the XTS5000III series. I am not after the cheapest price, but more or less after good reliable service. I am only interested in purchasing 1 portable, not a fleet of them so this may be a issue.

Thanks Anthony.

You're best off ringing Motorola Australia. It's no cheaper from the USA than it is here, and you'd be airfreighting the thing over there if you ever have warranty issues etc.

obviously your prob just going to use this to listen to police digital or GRN.

save your $$ and just buy a xts3k 2nd hand from the usa or in aust(be careful tho, there are not many 'legit' ones out there. if the flashcode is 5000080006005 expect it to be "Questionable" :o

He won't be listening to the GRN with an XTS5000. They auto-affiliate, and in NSW, having your radio affiliate with the network involves committing at least two offences. (Crimes Act and Radiocommunications Act.)

There might well be a few legit XTS3000s on the local market over the next two years or so, assuming they don't all end up in Motorola's crusher. Every NSW GRN user will be upgrading their gear over the next couple of years. SES is about to start rolling out XTL5000 W3 mobiles to replace the MCS2000s, and sexy yellow XTS5000R IIIs to replace the XTS3000's.
