Adapter for XTL-5000?

Post by 5-sides »

We are pulling our Spectras and replacing with XTL-5000's. Both are UHF trunk mounts with W-7 heads. I heard a rumor that there is an adapter that would let us use the existing cable for the control head, but I can't find anything at Moto about it.

Does anyone know if there is such an animal, or will I have to pull and replace all our cables? Thanks in advance.

I remember learning about this cable after seeing how that accessory connector on the back of the XTL is an ugly beast. After poking around, I found two different part numbers. I assume you're wanting the audio adapter. Not totally sure how the data cable differs, maybe it just has different pins connected. Anyway, hope this helps...

Thanks. Switching RF packs only will save us far more than the expense of the adapter cables!

Well, as it turned out, Mother M did us right for once. She included everything we needed. All I am having to do is provide 12VDC to the "new and improved" accessory connector she supplied. I can do the whole exchange and programming operation in 20 min all by my lonesome. Granted we have a pretty simple setup, but its the one thing that has gone right lately.
