Hi all, I travel back and forth between America and Sydney several times a year and was wondering if I can use my UHF Astro Saber III to monitor the New South Wales Government Radio Network that's used in that area.....
Freqs are shown here, http://www.scannsw.aesvn.org/grn.htm#site%20listings can any of the Aussie boys let me know if you've had any luck monitoring the system, is it running APCO 25 or is running APCO 20 WITH encryption?
Thanks
Jennifer

As a follow up, it appears that the NSW/Sydney Police Service are running up in the 468mhz range, I thought they were on the GRN for some reason...

It looks like I could just throw in my Manly frequencies (Manly is a town, not a state of masculinity..grin) and I'd be golden.

Double nope. The AFP have their own p25 network of 13 channels in Sydney and use radios that are 450-520 split which will not cover the GRN. ACS have 4+ channels in the Sydney area and again use 450-520 split models.
There may be a few GRN radios in the AFP/ACS in the Sydney area but would only be for mutual aid/disaster use only.

dvpman is correct.
AFP and customs radios are not able to access the GRN (and why would they want to or need to).
AFP can access the NSW Police network and yes their radios are 450-520Mhz split. Both agencies and other Federal Law enforcement agencies use encryption as standard operating procedure so you are unlikely to hear them.
