Hummer H3 install?

Post by arlojanis »

I am planning an install in a new Hummer H3. I am thinking about two small radios in console pocket and two quarter waves on top or thru glass antennas on rear side windows. If you have installed on H3, I need tips on fire wall hole and headliner work.

What radios do you own?: AM/FM with 8 track.

Not sure if it will help a whole lot, but:
The H3 is built off of the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon mid-sized pick-up platform. There is a post a couple down where I gave someone some ideas on getting through the firewall on that truck. It may or may not apply to the H3, but the power wiring information should.

Looks like a nice vehicle. Would love to see how it all looks when you are done.

Radio install in Hummer H3 went smooth. There is a good place to the left of brake pedal for 3/4 hole for groumet for power wires. Power wires can be connected to stud in fuse box under hood near battery. Notice the air cooling for the battery. A Larsen NMO quarter wave above each dome light. Vhf Icom in console pocket now. Hope to get a UHF CM300 in there also. Anyone have any ideas on installing LED's in front and strobes in rear?

Sounds like the same set up as my Canyon. I did have some alternator whine coming in through the power leads when I used the fuse box studs. I ended up powering directly off the battery. I noticed the battery cooling too.

I would also love to see some pictures.
