Micom-1000 Amplifier

Post by zs6hz »

Hi all,

I am desperately looking for some information about a Motorola Micom-1000 HF amplifier that I managed to get my paws on.

It is in excellent condition except that it is missing the Harmonic Filter/VSWR Detector board.

As far as I know, the amp was built as a dropship item by a company other than Motorola.

Does anyone have any information about where I might be able to find this board?

Any info. will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Marc - ZS6HZ ([email protected])

Marc, here is a link to a Micom group on Yahoo. Might be of some help.

Darrell,

Thanks for the info. I'll have a snoop around the Yahoo group. It seems a pity not to be using such a great amplifier :-)

Rgds,
Marc

This unit was made by Lambda for Mobat/Motorola. Yes, this is the same company that makes power supplies.

Lambda makes the switching power supply for the Micom/Mobat 1 kW amp. It uses 6 of Lambda's (now discontinued) JWS-600-48 P/S, wired in parallel (1800 watts @ 48V DC, redundant in case any of the 2 banks of P/S's fail). The Micom (now Elbit) 1 kW amp is made by a company in the Ukraine called "Uranis." It's an excellent amp, but like most commercial HF PA's, it has a positive going, bi-directional ALC protocol, so it will not interface with Ham exciters, which use a negative going, uni-directional ALC.
