That's pretty much all there is to it.

The display was $255.00 from MOL, but is no longer available.

You'd also need a model II or III codeplug to enable the II or III features.

Here's the part number for the display: 0105950T02

You'll also need to make sure you copy the tuning values down so after you blow the new CP in, you can put the original tuning back to where it was.

Good luck.

The display you speak of is available again but with a back order till OCT 14 05. If upgrading the unit from model 1 status you will need the whole fron housing as the button felts are missing to key the buttons on the housing on the model 1 case.

Found that out by putting a model 2 case on a model 1, making it a 1 1/2 which did not change anything after I put the case on. The buttons made no sounds as they would if it were a full model 2 or 3 as I would change menu options.

CoM
If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.

There are no "felts".

Every Astro Saber has the same shield, with the keys. You just have to have either a Model II or III housing. The housing has the buttons on the front which match the keys on the shield underneath.

The only 3 things that you need to turn a model I into a II or III are:

1. Model II or III case

2. Display (see above) which plugs into the radio and snaps into the existing shield,

3. Model II or III codeplug

The only other thing that needs to be done is to align the radio.

New price for the display for the Astro Saber with flex is $319.81.

Pretty good jump from $255.00...

You'd be better off buying a junked model II or III off of Ebay and switch out the parts...

Good luck.
