XTS5k Freq Problem

Post by 2wayguy »

I am trying to add a conventional channel to my 800 mhz radio for a talkaround channel. It is in the 76*.**** range and the radio will not take it. The CPS gives me an invalid field error. The CPS is legit and the latest version. The radio is an older radio with Host 4.00.01 DSP 4.00.01. Radio works perfectly other than that on our digital smartzone system. Anyone experienced this before. Is this a firmware issue, an old RF board issue or something else. Thanks

A few questions:

1) Have you read the FCC 700Mhz Bandplan, detailed in 47CFR 90.531?
2) Is the frequency you're trying to enter a valid 700Mhz channel?
3) Is the simplex freq you're trying to enter a designated itinerant channel within the 700Mhz bandplan?
4) Which version of CPS are you using?
5) Have other radios been successfully programmed to this freq, or is this just a problem with your radio?

I have CPS version 6.0. The frequency in question is currently in use in about two or three dozen other XTS5000's. The problem is only with my radio, all of the other radios are newer than mine.

Ideas?? I am thinking it is an old board problem since the rf board is original but I am hoping for someone to confirm it before I try and replace it.
