256k vs 512k Controllers on MTS2000?

Is there any way of telling if controller is 256k or 512k without reading the radio?

Model# is :
H01UCD6PW1BN

What's the firmware version? If it's higher than 5.44 it usually is a 512K controller. If it was made after July of 1995 (I think) they are usually 512K.

It is indeed 5.44, so would this make it 256 or 512?

That is in-correct, you will need to read the radio, actually go to the flash upgrade, and look at the radio configuration, you will need a smart rib for this. Or.......... pull the controller, and look on the back for the memory chips.
