Spectra 01/90 help needed

Post by dbrock411 »

Have a dash mount, 45 watt, VHF A4 head spectra, powers up only on 6-8 volts and loops through the self-test and fail 01/90. Radio appears either dead at 12v or sometimes has the xmit/busy lights come on. I've read the hints about connecting a X9000 head to attempt to cure the problem but even if I can come up with a X9000 head....how can it be connected to the dash mount radio?

I think I've ruled out any control head problems, swapped it with a head from a known good radio/head and no change in the status of the problem....I'm open to any other suggestions!

What radios do you own?: Radar Range

Did this start spontaneously? Or after a programming mishap maybe?

And how about cabling and such inside? Like is it getting power through ignition sense and not the main connector, etc?

Came to me this way so I don't have any history on the radio to relate. As expected, does nothing without the ignition sense connected....I know the fuse in the power wiring is a-ok, are you suggesting perhaps a problem in the power leads?

I've been out and checked, radio is receiving power without the ignition sense connected (checked at the pa board).

Did you check the little green fuse on the Command board?, there should be battery on both sides.
