Any GE Ericsson 500P Experts?

Post by Signal911 »

I'm having trouble with programming. I can read the radio without a problem, but when I try to program codeplug back into radio, I receive an error. "Could not read radio tracking info" and programming doesn't go any further. I have tried to program the tracking info back into the radio in the maint. section, but no luck. I have 8 radios doing this...all brand new. Version of the software is 12. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

No, through that POS out,

Hehe, its a frowned apon pratice to read ANY GE / TAIT / MA-com product and then modify the codeplug / personality and then write it back to the radio. They want you to use a known good / make a new from a file, codeplug if you can find one, and then write new info to that followed by writing that into the radio.

There is an issue with the software messing with the softpot values or something of the like where its not good to read , modify , and write like you can with MRSS.

I like my motorola just fine as long as its a Jedi, Genisis, Radius, Maratrac, or Spectra.

I've done lots of TAIT units, never had a problem reading, modifying & then writing. Don't know anything about the GE's though.

Ge/MACOM stuff is cats ass to program. The older software is readily avaliable. You CAN program the non provoice trunking radios to NEVER transmit(M-PA, M-RK, PCS) they make great scanners. The only exception is the new Programmer software (windows based and also does the older radios)will not read radios programmed with the older software and vice-versa, however you can ALWAYS create a new codeplug with any of the software to program any radio supported. None of the codeplug to new crap.

My experiance is with older stuff, not the latest Provoice/IP/ESK and all that so YMMV.
