Astro Saber Basic vs. Detailed Service Manual?

Post by akardam »

I've seen references to both the basic as well as detailed service manual for the Astro Saber, but the only one I can find on MOL is 6881076C05 for the basic troubleshooting manual. Does anyone have the part number for the detailed service manual? If such a beast is to be had is it worth it?

I also found 6881076C20, but all it says is "ASTRO" and it costs about $15.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

6881076C10

130 pages. Theory of operation, troubleshooting charts, scope trace photos, schematics, board layouts, and parts lists.

I was afraid of that. 6881076C10 comes up discontinued. Anyone have one in decent shape that they're willing to part with?

If you have access to MOL, you should be able to download them. There are 4 parts to it, totaling ~130 pages in PDF format.

Perhaps I'm not seeing it... where exactly do you have to go to download these? Do you need to have a certian level of MOL access to be able to download them?

Click on the "Resource Center" link at the top.

Then, "Product Information" on the left, then "Manuals", then "Two-Way Portables" and finally "Astro Digital Saber".

There are 15 files there and as The Pager Geek stated, 4 of those are for the Detailed Service Manual.

I must be doing something wrong, because the only entry under Portables is some weird Pro series unit with only 2 documents, both in Prortugese. Does one typically need to sign a license or have dealer level access to see these?

Not sure as I see every radio they make/made. There may be some that aren't on mine, but it's a pretty extensive list.
