RIB / RIBless

Post by sta19capt »

Does a RIBless cable work directly with the puter and the radio? By that I mean I've used my puter and RSS w/ someone's RIB and cables. I want my own RIB and cables but don't know how to build one and would rather not. So can I just buy a RIBless cable and get going or do I need a RIB? BTW programming HT1000, and VISARS

When using the ribless cables you do not use any sort of RIB attached to the cable. All the electronics are built into the hood of the computer cable.

I do not believe there are ribless cables for the HT1000 and Visar.

So it is possible to program an HT1000 with a ribless cable?

Those "RIBless" cables on eBay are cheap knockoffs. Personally, I use my genuine Moto RIB and either cables I've built and know are quality, Monty's cables (RIP), or genuine Motorola stuff.

There's no way I'd plug one of those cheap cables into one of my radios.

Motorola did not manufacture a RIBless cable for the Jedi-series radios. While it's possible the ones on eBay will work, it's also possible they will fry something.

I'll second the good craftsmanship from Panter....I have not bought any Moto cables from him but his Kenwood stuff was great and shipping was VERY fast.
