MTS display=driving me nuts!

Post by JOHN 1807 »

Ok,
I know there are known problems with some jedi displays. My babied-to -death MTS, that I bought NEW, and has not ever been abused has this display problem with missing pixels.

I accept this is an inherrant problem, BUT - WHY IS IT INTERMITTANT??? NOTHING I do seems to reproduce the missing pixels when they AREN'T missing (tapping-squeezing-temperature changes,etc...) I've already opened the radio once to clean the display contacts- seemed to make a slight differance(less pixels missing) -------------------------------------For about a DAY??? WTF?????-----------

Is there a definitive answer on what the cause is?? and can it be repaired WITHOUT needing a new housing? - YES I searched but no definitive answer found.

thanx- J

There has been an SRN issued on that problem.

Discussed here:

boy boh boy am I too familiar with this problem. As was explained to me by Ma M, one of their fine asian outsoruce suppliers that actually built the boards ran into some serious QC issues. There is nothing short of replacement that can be done to alleviate the problem. Cleaning the contacts won't help one bit. The problem is a defect in the display driver chip which is epoxied to the physical board. Good news is your radio can probabbly be depoted (untiil the depot moves to Tacoville) and get fixed IF it is sent in under the SRN otherwise buying a new NTN7153/7154 is the way to go and installing it yourself.
