Minitor V Pager Problems

Post by Car150 »

We purchased 47 Minitor V pagers in June 2005, in hopes that they would have solved the problems of the Minitor III's and IV's. To date, we have had 25% of them suffer repair problems. The issues seem to center on the following:
:( Units turning themselves off and on; particularly annoying at 2 AM
:( At least two units have aparently fried main boards; unknown reasons
:( Battery unit failures
:( Missing pages for unknown reasons
It is sad, that a leader in the radio business cannot build a quality VHF radio receiver/pager. Many of us long for the days of the Minitor II, some of which we still have in reserve and working quite well after 20+ years in service.

Minitor V Pager Problems

Well said!

I replaced a knob on one of our customer's Minitor II's the other day and noticed that it was 19+ years old... still going strong.

Most of my volunteer fire department customers will only purchase Minitor II's from me. They feel your pain with the later models.

Were the Minitor V's with the fried boards used with amplified chargers? That is one of the symptoms with the known amplified charger problem.

If you are looking for some good VHF Minitor II's, The Pager Clinic has really nice ones on your frequency and tones, with battery, charger, and 6-month warranty for only $175. Their website is http://www.thepagerclinic.com I have found them to be a most reputable company to do business with.
