QC / QCII / QCII-SP Question

Post by NB2E »

Our county uses a paging system based on QC, QC-II & QC-II-SP paging methods. Also, the dispatch console is a Centracom Series II. On the dispatch console it has the tone buttons for each department's pagers (QCII-SP) and Siren (QC). Is there a utility available to decode the Centracom codes displayed to actual tone frequency?

For instance.. Department A has a QCII-SP pager code on the console of 6CBC which I know the tones to be (from reading a Minitor 3 pager) 2807/435.3

I have a whole list of the tones in the format displayed from the Centracom console and would like to convert them to the frequencies so I can program pagers.

I just realized that the tones are actually plectron tones so I guess my question would be.. Is there a way to decode Centracom tone codes to their corresponding plectron tone?

There is a page in the Centracom II operators manual that has a chart that allows you to decode the 4 digit code into the actual tone frequencies.

I do not have it in front of me, but I could send you a photocopy if you cannot locate it.

If you can tape the audio on your PC you can use a program like cooledit 96 to decode them.

Wes,

If you could post a copy of it that'd be great. I can't seem to find the tables online for decoding the codes the console is producing. I have the standard QCII tables for prefixes 10 through 49 and 60/66/68/99 but it doesn't help me much when the console produces codes such as 9DB5, BD79 and AC7A.

You really need to try and find the as build info for your console. Motorola C II did not have all the plectron tones as standard in there systems. Because Plectron had there own standard list of tones and M had there way of doing things they did not include all of the tones. I know of several consoles where the tones were altered on a custom basic to fit the need of the user.
