Shuffled Band Plan option in ASTRO25 CPS
noticed this option, help says "Enables the radio's ability to obfuscate channel numbers intended to lock out unauthorized subscriber units from the current Trunking system"
so does this mean that now some TRSs could be enabled to keep scanners out of them simply by shuffling the channel assignments around?

So it would appear!
One would assume that the fixed end would have a corresponding parameter. With rebanding forcing most of the 800 systems to get new firmware for both the fixed end and the mobiles & portables - this may come fairly soon.
Wow. I can't wait to obfuscate our channel numbers!
Obfuscate - love those $10 words!

Hmm, yeah seems it may make a custom channel order list possible, from the sounds of it. Like an LCN for EDACS, possibly.
..
wow.
nothing about this mentioned ANYWHERE in the books that i can find....
HRMMMMMM
that's gonna screw a boatload of trunktracker owners fo' sho'

the fcc channel #'s are what is used to drive the scanner/authorized subscriber unit to the correct voice channel.
without that data (or if it's encrypted/changed/or "obfuscated") - then any radio without the right channel # data (i.e. a scanner) - will not follow the voice channels properly

Wow, that's going to suck until Uniden and GRE catch up.
Then again, I'd imagine it would take a whole lot of work to "obfuscate" an entire system, expecially a large one with multiple sites and thousands of subscriber units. AND.. unless they also plan on releasing a flash upgrade for MTS and MCS radios, anyone who wants to use them is going to be SOL.
Y'know, in a way, we've kinda come full circle; from fleetmaps in Type 1 systems to channel bandplan maps in Smartzone/P25 systems.
