CPS and XTS3000

Post by CBP_LB »

I am thinking of using CPS for my programming of my XTS3000, so i can use my own windows XP Pro. Computer, so i dont have to bug the local radio guys.

I do not have a rib-box nor the cable yet, but i do have the software.

i would like to start building my code-plug.

does anyone have a code plug that i can build with so i can just plug it in and download str8 to the radio.

Can i do this?

Not... exactly. The codeplug files CPS saves have the serial, model, and flashcode embedded in them, and the CPS will check the serial, model and flashcode, and if they do not match it will not load the codeplug into the radio. You have a few options:

1. Get a codeplug from an identical model and flashcode, load it, and then "clone" it into your radio, which the CPS will let you do (mostly so if you had a fleet with same model and flashcode you could create one codeplug and drop it into your entire fleet). Remember, the model and flashcode have to match *exactly*. Also keep in mind that newer codeplugs will not work with older versions of CPS.

2. Load a codeplug from an identical model, and then drag and drop the info from that codeplug into yours. Disadvantage here is that not every setting will copy over, so some stuff you will still have to enter in manually.

Too bad you're in SoCal or I could help you out by reading your radio. Maybe someone else on the board that's local to you could help?

You cannot program your radio without a rib, you need to use an external one or one built into the hood of the DB-9 connecter.

You can buy a "Rib less" XTS3000 programming cable off of E-bay for like $ 25.00 US, I bought one and it works great.

If it has been programmed with CPS you need CPS.
You can't just dump a old file into. (well not as straight forward as that anyway)
