MTS2000 using older RSS than previous

Post by ayaresr »

I am looking at possibly buying an mts2000 that was last programmed with RSS R06.06.00. My question is, if I buy this radio, would I be able to use RSS R06.00.00 to program it or no. I know that you usually can't go backwards with the programming version with this model, but is this model programmed with an old enough version that it would allow it?
Thanks, Ryan

PS- The firmware version is R06.58

You would have to use the R06.06 or newer to program that radio. It IS that specific. The only way to downgrade the codeplug to work with older RSS is to use labtool which on THAT radio is a no-no.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Does anyone on here have an mts2000 programmed with something older than version R06.00.00 they would be willing to part with?

Not entirely. You can read & save a codeplug with Labtool, then open the codeplug with whatever version of legit RSS you have and write to the radio with that. Just make sure you don't change anything between reading and saving (for example, don't hit F9 - Radio Programming Information, or else it'll show ???? for Radio Software Version and hose the codeplug), and always save a S-record before doing anything.
