Anyway, I have a crossband bi-directional repeater consisting of a CDM1250 VHF and a CM300 UHF with a RICK in between. I would like to add a remote speaker to each of the radios, but if i remember correctly from the RICK schematic, only the speaker outputs from the J5 radios are connected to the J4 connector in the rear or the RICK.
So my question is this.... Does the function of the RICK depend on the speaker audio from the radios? If not, Im thinking that i could use the speaker output wires from the cables (on the RICK end of each, cutting/splicing) and drive the external speakers that way.
Removing some of the shielding from the RICK cables shouldnt be a problem in this installation.... there is really isnt anything that will cause a great amount of RFI.
Any thoughts on this whole thing?
And as a sidenote, this is part of a good size project that i will post pics of as soon as its done. We've been building a rehab/communications truck from the ground up, with an SCBA air station, 6kW light tower, full kitchen/storage/rehab area, and a communications/command post. It's designed to respond to any lengthy incident, from fires to hazmat to water rescues..... more to follow on that, in the appropriate thread

thanks all
